“America First” entails the departure from policies that had governed the last six decades of American politics such as advocacy of a free market and close ties to transatlantic partners – e.g. with NATO.  At the same time the Trump administration has not yet provided a detailed plan that outlines the future of U.S. security politics and economic strategies.

In his talk, Professor Wade Jacoby will evaluate from an American vantage point the outlook for conflict and co-operation on security issues and economic relations between Europe, Germany and the United States under the Trump administration.  He will base his comments on the results of a report of the Transatlantic Academy that will incorporate the latest developments in American politics.
