During his service as the Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in American Studies at the University of Helsinki, Dr. Fry conducted extensive research on how well prepared Europe and the United States are to compete in a world where perhaps half of global trade, investment, people, and GDP will be concentrated on Asia by mid-century. This lecture focuses on specific challenges and solutions for the residents of Europe and the U.S.

Dr. Fry’s noted book “Lament for America: Decline of the Superpower, Plan for Renewal,” was published in 2010 by the University of Toronto Press. His newest book, “Revitalizing Governance, Restoring Prosperity, and Restructuring Foreign Affairs: The Pathway to Renaissance America,” was published in 2014 by Lexington Books. Dr. Fry previously served as Special Assistant in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, part of the Executive Office of the President of the United States. He has also been a Fulbright Lecturer at the Sorbonne, Director of International Education and Canadian Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh, and Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow.
