MING Event - Women's March 2018

MING Event - Women’s March 2018 – 20th January

When:   Saturday, 20th January 2018

Time:    1400-1600 hours

Where:  Meet at Siegestor/Geschwister-Scholl-Platz

Take a stand and march in Munich to affirm our values and speak up for those who cannot.  In a similar vein to the 21 January 2017 initiative, a number of Munich’s top international groups will now also march in support of the global #MeToo movement.

Similar marches and vigils will be taking place around the world as we join our fellow Americans in Washington D.C. to support  the values we hold dear: tolerance, women's rights, religious freedom, facts, environmental protection, democracy, LGBT rights, black lives matter, science, peaceful co-existence, and the right to vote, to name a few.

Please save the date and plan to join us to make a constructive impact here in Munich.  Last year’s march featured over 1,500 marchers.  Let’s top that this year!  There will likely be press on hand so spread the word. We encourage signs that are content/issue driven and in good taste. Offensive signs may risk being taken.

The starting point is Siegestor/Geschwister-Scholl-Platz (U-3 and U-6 Haltestelle Universität).  We will then walk down the Ludwigstrasse to Odeonsplatz and then to Marienplatz.  There will be networking opportunities at the Marienplatz and at 1600 in the Ratskeller Restaurant.

For U.S. citizens, there will then be voter registration assistance for members of the MING groups starting around 1600 at the Ratskeller to help you register to vote and request absentee ballots for the upcoming 2018 U.S. elections.

Also within your MING groups, should any of your American members need voter registration assistance, Democrats Abroad can arrange for one of its members to attend one of your meetings to provide this support.
