Come join us for AGBC Munich’s look into the important Blockchain advances and the developments of cryptocurrencies.  This is an effort to come to grips with a very complex and evolving business sector rather than a debate on the merits of these new technologies.

We will lead-off with a discussion on Blockchain, led by an expert from the Munich offices of the International Data Corporation (IDC – www.idc.com), the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets. With more than 1,100 analysts worldwide, IDC offers global, regional, and local expertise on technology and industry opportunities and trends in over 110 countries.

This will be followed by a panel discussion on cryptocurrencies, featuring experts involved in various aspects of the emerging cryptocurrency markets.  They will discuss their perceived prospects for cryptocurrencies and the use of Blockchain technology in the emerging cryptocurrency arena.

Blockchain is an evolving approach for providing transaction transparency through the use of decentralized ledger technology that provides security and incorruptibility through the use of cryptographic signatures and encryption.  It provides an appealing, collaborative solution to problems that many industries confront today.  For instance, it can help lower the cost of trust while boosting the effectiveness of many business processes, both within and between companies.  In fact for many companies, it represents a paradigm shift in how they will approach their future management and processing of data.

What is a Cryptocurrency?  As explained by Wikipedia, a cryptocurrency is a digital asset/currency designed to work as a medium of exchange that uses cryptography to secure its transactions, to control the creation of additional units, and to verify the transfer of assets.  Cryptocurrencies use decentralized control as opposed to centralized electronic money and central banking systems.  The decentralized control of each cryptocurrency works through a blockchain, which is a public transaction database, functioning as a distributed ledger.  Key examples of cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Ripple.
